The GMs are meeting today and one topic they all seem to favor is "more teams in the playoffs..." which is kind of funny given GMs who make the playoffs keep their jobs longer...but in all seriousness, what do you think of this concept?
There are quite a few ideas as to how this could work, but the two most common are...
*Increase to 9 playoff teams in each conference and have 8 play 9 to see who gets into the playoffs.
*Increase to 10 playoff teams in each Conference and have a total of four play-in games, two in each Conference, where the top wildcard team would play the fourth best wildcard team and the second would play the third...to determine who gets into the main playoffs..
What does look to be definite however is that after all of that the GMs would like to see the Conference teams re-seeded and 1 play 8, 2/7 and so on...
I am in favor of the 20 team concept...this would make the races better all around as finishing in the top 3 in your division would allow a team to escape the single elimination playoffs...
what say you?
