Sharks win streak snapped in overtime loss to Blues (sharks)

The San Jose Sharks win streak ended with a 3-2 overtime loss to the surging St. Louis Blues.

Vladimir Tarasenko scored his second goal of the game in overtime to send the Sharks home without a second point. Tarasenko has been a Sharks killer of late. He has 12 points (6g 6a) in 11 games vs. San Jose.

The Blues were left for dead a few weeks ago, but they've won eight of nine to move into the first wild card slot.

The Sharks (98 pts) earned a point to increase their lead over Anaheim (91) and Los Angeles (91) to seven points.

Evander Kane and Joe Pavelski scored for San Jose. Aaron Dell made his first start in five games and stopped 29 shots in the loss.

Brent Burns set up Pavelski on the power play for his 20th goal this season. The captain has 20 or more goals in nine of his 12 NHL seasons.

Kane scored his 29th goal. The newest Shark has nine goals and five assists in 14 games since he was acquired. How long unto San Jose inks this guy to a new deal? He just fits the teams so well. He needs to forget the rest of the league and stay in Nor Cal for good.

Brent Burns collected a pair of assists, giving him 50 this season. He became the first Sharks defenseman to record 50 assists in a season and he has 60 or more points in four consecutive seasons.

San Jose has a string of tough games coming up starting with Nashville on Thursday.
