The San Jose Sharks suffered a blowout loss against the Nashville Predators tonight, losing 8-0.

Nashville extended their lead early in the third period, with Roman Josi’s shot deflecting off Matt Luff and finding its way in. The Sharks did manage some good chances off the rush in the frame, notably from Timo Meier and Tomas Hertl, but Matt Luff buried a puck in front for his second goal of the game to make it 4-0 heading into the second intermission.
Things got worse in the third period, as Matt Duchene made a nice move to the backhand, roofing it over Stalock to extend the lead to 5-0. Then just a couple minutes later, Matt Luff made a move to get around Scott Reedy and put it right to Michael McCarron for a tap in. Zach Sawchenko came in to replace Alex Stalock from there but it didn’t matter, as Yakov Trenin beat Sawchenko a little later to make it 7-0. The Predators weren't done, as Mikael Granlund tapped in a puck a few minutes after that, for the eighth and final Nashville goal.
Needless to say, but it was a pretty disastrous performance from San Jose on home ice. Their coverage around their own net was pretty much non-existent and this was likely their worst defensive performance of the season.
Once again, the Sharks also struggled to get shots on goal, marking their fourth game in a row with under 25 shots, posting a total of just 77 shots over that four-game stretch.
It was a rough first game back with the Sharks for Alex Stalock, who allowed six goals on 28 shots. Obviously it was more about the team effort than goaltending in this one but yeah, not great for Stalock.
San Jose is back in action tomorrow against the Anaheim Ducks.
