In the midst of a 10-game losing streak, the San Jose Sharks were officially eliminated from playoff contention.

This past week, the Sharks dropped all four games remaining on their road trip. They fell in overtime to the Nashville Predators on Tuesday, before losing in a shootout to the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday, then dropping both games of a weekend back-to-back to the Dallas Stars and Minnesota Wild.

It marks the third season in a row in which the Sharks have missed the playoffs. It’s a relatively expected result from the year, with San Jose now projected to get close to the playoffs coming into the season.

An exciting piece of news that came during the disappointing road trip though was the signing of Thomas Bordeleau (the Sharks also signed forward Max Veronneau).

Veronneau, on the other hand, is 26 years old and his contract is for next season only, carrying a $750,000 cap hit. He’s spent the year in Sweden’s top league, scoring 34 goals and 60 points in 51 SHL games.
