Setting the table for the Calgary Flames on draft day (Flames)

While the Calgary Flames do not own a 1st round pick, they could still be active tonight. At least they want to be.

It's no secret GM Brad Treliving is looking to add more scoring punch up front.

The Flames are reportedly among the teams interested in Elias Lindholm. They've been linked to Kevin Hayes in the past. …‹Nino Niederreiter could be a target as well given his rumored availability and the Flames' need for a skilled right-handed forward. There are no doubt other options as well.

As usual, Dougie Hamilton's name has popped up in a lot of rumors but I'd still be surprised if he is dealt. I think T.J. Brodie is more likely to go if the Flames move a top-4 guy for forward help. Perhaps the likeliest scenario, though, is using a quality defense prospect in a deal such as Adam Fox.

Shopping Fox makes some sense in that a) he's a really promising prospect who could help land a good forward and; b) he might be difficult for Calgary to sign when the time comes.

Regarding Stone, O…‹ttawa would definitely be doing Calgary a favor taking him He's a possession anchor, he makes too much money, and he's taking up a depth slot Rasmus Andersson seems ready to fill.

I'm not sold the Flames will move Stone – Treliving has a long history with him dating back to Arizona – but that would make the Flames more flexible to make meaningful additions up front over the next week or two.

Suffice to say, there are a lot of balls up in the air right now. It'll be interesting to see where they all land when the dust settles.
