NHL Survivor Contest! Yes, we're going to start a NHL survivor contest here at hockeybuzz this coming week. If you have ideas or opinions on how we should run it please either post your comments in the blog or IM me here at HB!
I post the most info for NHL betting in a column online and I appreciate the many IM's or comments in the blog from all the daily readers! This column is a long one with a ton of info as always. Let's keep riding the big Friday night into the weekend and hit some more winners! We hit the big Canucks play last night while hitting the Colorado Avalanche over machine, it's definitely something to keep an eye on. The Flyers was a nice dog to hit, if you all check the comment section of my blog throughout the night, you will see that I post info on line moves with the public/smart money and we grabbed that one prior to puck drop. For the second night in a row, the road teams are starting to hit going 5-2, 13-4 the last two nights.
I'm starting a new aspect of my daily column, called "trending up or down". I won't include every NHL team, it will include teams on a list that basically gives bettors an idea of who to stay away from or who to ride on a hot streak! Now that we're past the quarter mark of the season you can start to get a better handle on teams.
There are 6 teams playing back-to-back nights, all in different situations, so be very aware of these teams when wagering tonight. As well, there are teams who are on their 3rd or 4th string goalies, watch the goalie list when I update it throughout the day, this can determine a win or loss when betting!!! We have a 12 game card tonight with the game analysis below for tonight's games.
**Elliott/Forsberg goalies** 1 pm EST - TB has won 5 in a row and 11 of their last 14 games! But this will be their 5th game in 8 nights as they end their road trip while Ottawa has been off since Tuesday night. I can see Ottawa getting up for this game and TB taking the Sens lightly. This game sets up well for the dog, lean to Ottawa +175 as I truly thought this would've been a larger number which tells me even Vegas is begging for TB money at -210. Plus TB has now lost Cirelli and is down 3 guys at center.
**Allen/Lindgren goalies** Habs at the Blues is a pass for me. There are far too many injuries on both sides as STL has 9 out and MTL has 10 players out. You just can't cap a game with this many key players out of the lineup. There's no way I could play STL -220 at that steep price with so many question marks in the lineup, there's zero value on playing the Blues.
**Lankinen/Mrazek goalies** In the Hawk's last 11 games, they have rotated a win and a loss! Tonight would suggest it's time for a loss lol if you follow this bizarre streak, plus Lakinen should get the start in the goal for Chicago. The Leafs have lost 3 of their 4 games and hit the road out west for 4 games after this mini 3 game homestand. Toronto was red hot for a month winning 15 of 17 games so it was inevitable they would have a dip in their play at some point plus a few injuries have also hurt them of late. Very small lean to Chicago as Toronto is trending down.
**Gibson/DeSmith goalies** The Ducks visit Pittsburgh who are off a 5 game roadie and a huge emotional/physical game last night against their rival in Washington while Anaheim sat rested! Even though it's the Duck's 4th game in 6 nights on the road, I will play against Pitt here due to the long weary road trip. Anaheim has grabbed 5 out of 6 points on this road trip so far too. But tomorrow night I will be playing against Anaheim when they play the unthinkable 5 in 7! Lean to the Ducks +130.
**Vanacek/Dell confirmed goalies** Buffalo has lost 10 of their last 11 games but their last 2 games have been tight in both losses(2-0, 2-1) and the Caps are off a tough game with the Pens as noted above. The Caps lost Tom Wilson last night to add to their injury list. The Caps are known to take these types of games lightly and the Sabres are solid at home. There's zero value in the Caps -225 but the Sabres +185 are worth a shot if you want to play a live dog. This game is a pass for me with better games on the card.
The game of struggling teams in the Metro Division with NJ at NYI. The Devils have lost 7 of their last 9 games with both wins over Philly. The Isles are a rested team as NJ played last night and are finally getting healthy. This game sets up so well for NYI to finally get their first win in the building. Strong lean to NYI -161, at a great price!
**Jones/Vejmelka confirmed goalies** Philly finally snapped their 10 game losing skid in Vegas last night and now go to play the worst team in the league in AZ. This is a horrible letdown spot for the Flyers as bad as the Coyotes have been. Slight lean to AZ +130 as a small dog here. The Yotes lost last night to Florida but are off until Wednesday after this game. No way I can lay -149 on this Flyers team.
**Merzlikins/Grubauer goalies** The Jackets have lost 6 of their last 7 games and are trending down as they hit the road for a 5 game road trip. Seattle has played very well at home and is the biggest fav they've been all year at -161. Lean to Seattle at home over a struggling Columbus team.
**Ullmark/Markstrom goalies** Boston is playing their 3rd game in 4 nights on the road while the Flames have lost 3 in a row(3-2/5-3/2-1OT). The Bruins are in a tough spot as they head home for a game against Vegas, then go back out on the road for 3 more games. The Flames already won in Boston earlier this year in dominating style 4-0. Lean to Calgary at a nice price of -140. Small lean to the under here too.
**Anderson/Koskinen goalies** The Canes are trending back up after a rough patch but it was to be expected after a terrific start to the season. Carolina is 11-3-1 on the road and the Oilers are still dealing with injuries on defense. Edmonton has lost 4 in a row, 3 straight at home while Carolina has won 3 in a row including big wins at Winnipeg and Calgary. Oilers are only -130 as Vegas looks for the public to bite on the bigger name players with Edmonton. Strong lean to Carolina +110 as a small dog.
Quick confirmed for LA in goal** Minnesota is red-hot winning 8 in a row but they face the classic look-ahead spot when they play in LA tonight. The Wild play at Vegas tomorrow night their arch-nemesis from last year's playoffs and Vegas got caught doing the same thing last night when they played Philly, plus Vegas started their backup goalie looking ahead to the Minny matchup. Vegas made Minny a small road fav at -147, a team that's 19-6-1 and the hottest team in the NHL against a Kings team that is 11-10-4! LA meanwhile has knocked off Edmonton and Dallas in their 2 wins over the last 3 games which tells you LA plays up to the level of their opponent. Small lean to LA +130, Vegas installing the Kings as such a small dog tells you they know the public is on Minny!
**Holtby/Reimer goalies** Dallas is playing their 3rd game in 4 nights on the road and has lost the first 2 games on this trip. The Stars had won 7 in a row so they will be looking to get back on the winning track but they did a lot of their damage at home, as they are only 4-7-0-1 on the road while the Sharks are solid at home. SJ is on a 7 game homestand and both teams have gone under the total in 32 of 51 games combined this season. Small lean to the under and small lean to SJ +105.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **Teams trending up…‹…‹** Minnesota, TB, Pittsburgh, NYR, Dallas, Carolina, Nashville, Vancouver **Teams trending down…‹…‹** NYI< NJ, CLB, Buffalo, Montreal, Philly, Edmonton, Washington, Toronto ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The following numbers from last night were requested by all the Draft Kings reader's here, so I hope all of you that read the column daily can use them to your advantage - Total goals last night - 42(Home - 20/Road - 22) Total PP goals last night - 9 Total SH goals last night - 0 Favs were only 5-2 last night. The last 13 days favs have gone 80-38! **Another prop to try is empty-net goals, you would be surprised how many are scored each night as coaches tend to pull the goalie earlier than if down 1 or 2 goals.
Home teams are now 233-183. Over/Under the total is 206-199-7 on the year. Teams in back-to-back consecutive road games are now 35-28-1 over/under the total. Teams rested the night before when their opponent plays the prior night are 38-27. East vs West games, West 94-84 over the Eastern Conference. Teams playing 3 in 4 nights on the road, bet against in 3rd game - 18-12 Teams playing 4 in 6 nights on the road, bet against in 4th game - 19-5 Teams off 5 game roadie or more, bet against them. 11-7 Teams playing 5 in 8 nights on the road, bet against them in 5th game - 8-4 Teams playing in their 6th straight road game, bet against them. 1-4
