A few quick hits for you....
While it is apparent right now that we are in the 'contingency" period with trade rumors, with many teams talking to each other regarding "what if" scenarios, there are enough teams out there who realize they can't sit around and wait for the trade deadline.
Montréal is definitely one of those teams, and I continue to hear more and more about them with Shane Doan, Shattenkirk, and Matt Duchene...
Another team I have heard more ramblings regarding is Buffalo, who is showing how with Jack Eichel they could be a force to deal with sooner than expected...especially if they can add another star caliber skilled player to help Eichel out...as a second line Center/power play linemate...That is why it shouldn't be all that surprising to hear the Sabres have had talks with Colorado regarding Matt Duchene.... The Sabres also can offer more in terms of prospects that almost anyone else. It would be hard to imagine how Montréal could match a deal Buffalo could put on the table.
On the Hawks goaltending...
Despite the fact that Corey Crawford is a hell of a goalie, for whatever reason the Chicago Blackhawks and goalie rumors are like the coming of the holidays. The latest rumor is tying the Blackhawks to Tampa goalie Ben Bishop... Either as a back up or potential challenger to Crawford for the rest of the year. I will be keeping an eye on this for sure.
