It is obvious by now Oilers fans are completely besotted with the idea of picking up Marc Andre Fleury as their next goalkeeper…. However, does Marc Andre share that same passion?
Beyond the obvious salary cap issues, a third team would need to be involved and Cody Ceci and more, there are plenty of reasons Fleury may choose another option for a Cup run…
So when I was texted this morning that a few Oilers players were passing notes in class to friends near Fleury to see if he liked them I wasn’t surprised at all. Combine this with some other developing stories out there…Fleury apparently isn’t in love with playing for the Caps and facing his Penguin buddies early, Darcy Kuemper’s game has picked up sunstantially leaving Colorado looking towards alternatives…like Giroux or Hertl…Bottom line here…
There aren’t that many teams that match with Fleury right now…
Vegas?
It would take serious injury and LTIR or a moving Dadanov and/orSmith. There is no doubt the owner would LOVE Fleury back if Lehner is injured and out. FLeury would likely go back…
Minnesota?
Talbot has been more than good, but anyone watching last night’s game against Florida can see that if this team has the ability to be a contender…the only marginal question mark being: “Do they have a goalie who they can ride to a Stanley Cup?… Bill Guerin tried hard to trade for Fleury before going down the path of Talbot. Guerin was a teammate of MAF in Pittsburgh… Adding Fleury to the Wild makes them the Cup Favorite….in my opinion…
Then there is Edmonton…They look MUCH better since the coaching change and they are having fun again. Playing with that kind of skill up front has to be enticing…Also, Fleury has always been at his best when he is getting a lot of work in a game. He about as close as we have seen to a Grant Fuhr since Fuhr left the game in many ways. Quickness and a big time, BIG GAMER. Makes saves when you need them the most…a flair for the dramatic…
