Reviewing the season: Mike Amadio (Kings)

With the Los Angeles Kings’ season over, I’ll be taking a look at each player on the team and how they performed this season. The first player I’ll be focusing on is Mike Amadio.

Amadio finally earned a permanent spot with the Kings this year and had a fairly strong first full NHL season. He upped his shots per game by quite a margin, at 1.46 this season, compared to 0.81 shots per game in the 80 games he played with Los Angeles between the two previous seasons. He also had a very strong corsi for percentage of 54.6 per cent this season, despite having a lower offensive zone start percentage than the majority of Kings’ forwards.

Based on the sheer number of talented forward prospects the Kings have in the pipeline, it’s probably unlikely that Amadio makes his way into the top-six. That said, he’s still able to create chances and as a very defensively reliable forward, he’s an excellent fit in the bottom-six. It'll be a bonus if he’s able to boost his production but so far, he’s already succeeding in a depth role and based on his age, he could be with the Kings for years to come.
