It is that fun time of the year! Speculations, rumors, and transactions will be rampant as we get closer to the NHL Draft and free agency.
No Fiala, No Problem I am glad that the Devils did not make this trade because I don’t think Kevin Fiala would have been a great fit for New Jersey. After the trade, L.A. Kings eventually signed him to a big seven year contract with AAV of $7.875M. I am sure the Minnesota would have asked a lot to ship the restricted free agent to New Jersey. Fiala is a great player but prefer the Devils use their draft picks.
Madden and MacLean Out in San Jose
Maddog and Johnny Mac are both out as assistant coaches as head coach Bob Boughner was fired. Madden and MacLean are fan favorites in New Jersey and as of now, the Devils are still hiring and need to fill two assistant coach positions.
2017 NHL Redraft
The Cale Makar versus Nico Hischier debate has reignited since Makar won this year’s Norris Trophy, Conn Smythe, and Stanley Cup. Then came Adam Kimelman’s 2017 NHL Redraft that had Hischier falling to ninth overall on NHL.com.
There is no debate here. Cale Makar is awesome and deserves to be number one in the redraft. But Hischier falling to number 9?
