Quick Hits and Daniel Carcillo Interview (blackhawks)

What is going on, guys? So I wanted to apologize for the lack of blogs this week. Work has been pretty hectic getting ready for the upcoming season. I will have my defense preview blog up here in the next day or two.

As things stand right now, based on roster moves, we are going to get the roster that we have talked about heading into training camp. For a rebuilding team, this time of year is a little boring in terms of the lack of surprises on the roster. We aren’t going to see a young prospect who might be on the cusp of making the next step to play in the NHL. What we are seeing, though, is players establishing their roles in this organization. I think Nolan Allan had a good camp and really solidified that he is the next man up when the Hawks need to make a change on the back end. Given the situation with our defense, it's not a question of whether he will see time with the Hawks, but when he will see time.

Lukas Reichel is another player I feel is coming out of this training camp as a big winner. The 21-year-old has been putting in the work and doing everything KD and Coach Richardson have asked of him, and it is paying off. I really think having Bedard on this team with him is going to be the best situation; it’s going to take pressure off of him to be a top offensive piece and is going to let him almost fly under the radar, and I think he’s going to have a breakout season because of this.

Daniel Carcillo I just posted an interview we did with Car Bomb over on WCBPodcast; it was an amazing conversation with the former Blackhawk. We talked about his career and how he feels about the game today. I think the most interesting part of the interview, however, was talking with him about how he has treated his head injuries with the use of alternative medicine and how he is working to give veterans and others with injuries like this the best treatment possible. He even talked about how unhinged he was after leaving the game and how, since finding these new treatments, he has been the best version of himself he has ever been. It was great seeing him so healthy and so passionate about what he is doing, and it is definitely worth good to or watching if you are interested.

That’s it for me right now, and again, I apologize for the lack of blogs. I promise, once the season starts, I will be on top of it for you guys. The plan is to have my defense preview up by Friday and then post a season prediction blog on Monday. Hang in there, guys! We are just 6 days away from regular-season hockey!
