Quick Hits: May 14, 2023

1) Team USA ran its preliminary round record at the 2023 IIHF World Championships to 2-0-0 with a 7-1 blowout win over Hungary at Nokia Arena in Tampere, Finland. The Americans opened the tourney with a 4-1 win over host Finland. Flyers prospect Cutter Gauthier has scored a goal in back-to-back game after surviving a scare in a pretournament exhibition game against Germany in which Gauthier left in the second period after being elbowed in the head by Germany's Nico Sturm. Flyers/Phantoms defenseman Ronnie Attard led all players in the Hugary game with six shots on goal but did not get on the scoresheet.

2) Team Canada is now 2-0-0 at the Worlds following a 6-0 shutout of Latvia and a 5-2 win over Slovenia. Alternate captain Scott Laughton scored a goal in the Latvia game. He did not record a point in the second match.
