1) Practice sessions for the World Junior Summer Showcase get underway today at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan. Three Flyers prospects are participating: Cutter Gauthier (USA White), Devin Kaplan (USA White) and Cole Knuble (USA Blue). On Saturday, USA Blue plays Sweden, while USA White takes on Finland. 2) Today in Flyers History: July 27
* 1973: The Flyers trade Doug Favell to the Toronto Maple Leafs to complete the May 15, 1973, trade to reacquire the NHL rights to Bernie Parent.
* 1994: The Flyers sign free agent left winger Shjon Podein, previously of the Edmonton Oilers.
* 2005: The Flyers sign Jeff Carter, Mike Richards and Alexandre Picard to three-year contracts.
* 2022: The Flyers re-sign Tanner Laczynski to a two-year contract. Year one (2022-23) was a two-way agreement, while 2023-24 is a one-way deal that will pay the player $775,000 regardless of whether he plays in the NHL or the AHL.
