Quick Hits: Practice Day, Road Trip, Trade Deadline (Flyers)

Quick Hits: March 6, 2024

1) The Flyers will hold an 11 a.m. practice on Thursday at the FTC in Voorhees before departing for a two-game road trip to Florida. The Flyers will visit the Florida Panthers (six straight wins, nine wins their last 10 games, 43-16-4 overall) on Thursday. On Saturday, they are in Tampa to wrap up their season series with the Tampa Bay Lightning (5-4-1 in their 10 games, 33-24-6 overall, 19-8-4 on home ice).

2) I will refrain from commentary on the trade deadline until Sunday's blog. I believe that the Flyers will make at least one trade (with Sean Walker being the likeliest player to be moved). I have also heard that Danny Briere is still exploring deals where the Flyers are the middle-man in deals that free up cap space for other clubs to make additions. Lastly, they are trying to lay groundwork for at least one significant offseason deal. It's not a secret that the Flyers are still in the market, if they add a rental, for a veteran backup goalie and a depth forward.

3) It appears that Nick Seeler avoided any type of long-term injury from the Colton Parayko shot that caught Seeler in the left ankle during the second period of Monday's game against St. Louis. Seeler is likely to be classified as day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Nonetheless, I'd be surprised if he is available to play in Sunrise and shocked if he's able to practice beforehand. Seeler returned to Monday's game at the start of the third period but was unable to finish. He left again midway through the third period and did not return to the bench.

4) Ronnie Attard may get his chance on Thursday to play his first NHL regular season game of the 2023-24 season. He's been a healthy scratch in the last two games since being recalled from the AHL's Lehigh Valley Phantoms. If the Flyers make another recall from the Phantoms to fill in for Seeler, I'd say that Adam Ginning would be the next man up. Ginning played a couple strong games for the Phantoms this past weekend.

5) Flyers Daily: Jason Myrtetus interviewed Flyers prospect Denver Barkey for roughly 15 minutes. Barkey discussed his progress this season with the OHL's London Knights, his excitement for the future, his goals for adding muscular weight to his frame in the next couple offseasons, his background as a player and London's potential for a deep postseason run this year.
