Quick Hits: December 23, 2021
1) Tonight would have been the Flyers' final game before the leaguewide Christmas break, as the team was scheduled to visit the Pittsburgh Penguins. With the NHL's already-announced postponements of Tuesday's home game against the Washington Capitals as well as this game, the Flyers are already in their break.
2) The Lehigh Valley's scheduled game last night on the road against the Hershey Bears was postponed by the American Hockey League due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak on the Bears' roster. The Phantoms are now in their holiday break, The season will resume on Dec. 29 when the Phantoms are slated to host the Cleveland Monsters. The Phantoms are 7-11-6 on the season and still in last place in the Atlantic Division. However, the gap has narrowed a little bit of late with the Phantoms on a five-game point streak (4-0-1).
3) On Day 11 of the Flyers Alumni's 12 Days of Christmas giving program for 21, the Alumni have donated $3,000 toward upgrades for the outdoor rink used by the Salmon (Idaho) Youth Hockey Association. For the Salmon Hockey story, see the video below:
