Quick Hits: August 9, 2023
1) Playing his fourth game in six days, Flyers 2023 first-round pick Matvei Michkov had an uneven performance on Tuesday in the final game of the Sochi Hockey Open. He had some moments of offensive flair at center and continued to work hard on his play without the puck but he wasn't as sharp as he was in previous games in the preseason tournament. SKA St. Petersburg led by scores of 4-1 and 5-2 but ultimately lost via shootout, 6-5.
2) Flyers goalie prospect Alexei Kolosov, coming off a rough outing in his previous game, stepped up on Tuesday to provide a strong performance in a 6-3 preseason victory. Dinamo Minsk returns to action on Aug. 19 against CSKA Moscow (Ivan Fedotov's team, pending an IIHF ruling on whether the Flyers or Red Army has the enforceable contract with the player for 2023-24).
