Quick Hits: Lindros B2B Hat Trick Anniversary, FBN, Huffman, Parent (Flyers)

Quick Hits: March 20, 2020

1) Even while the NHL season is on "pause" during the coronavirus pandemic, there will still be plenty of hockey-related (and Flyers-specific) content to help you get through the absence of hockey, both here at HockeyBuzz and elsewhere.

Both on the Flyers official website and on the Flyers Alumni social media channels and website, there are content calendars in development to help satiate the hockey cravings of those who are eager for it. First up will be a "deep dive" feature on the Flyers site into the team's surge over its last 26 games before the schedule was put on hold. Thereafter, there will be an array of player profiles on individual players' and how they've fared this season. There are prospect-related stories, articles on systems, entertainment-oriented "lighter" content and much more.

Throughout the pause, on the Flyers Broadcast Network, Jason Myrtetus has continued the "Flyers Daily" podcast. Starting next week, Jason's show will run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday and be a somewhat longer-format show per episode. Brian Smith, Chris Therien, myself and various special guests will be featured.

On today's edition, Jason and Bundy discussed how the pandemic is affecting players, as well as which rumored return scenarios may or may not to be realistic: Download here.

Over on the Flyers Alumni social media pages and website, we are highlighting "Today in Flyers History" and Alumni birthdays. Additionally, we are working to develop a series in which we catch up with what Alumni of the past have done since their hockey playing careers came to an end.

2) Today is the 25th anniversary of when Eric Lindros became the first Flyers player in franchise history to record hat tricks in back-to-back games. On March 18, 1995, Lindros tallied three goals -- including an overtime game-winner in which he literally tossed aside a defender with one arm and controlled the puck with one hand on his stick, moved up the ice and scored -- in a road win against the Florida Panthers. Two days later, Lindros did it again, with three goals and an assist in a 8-4 home romp at the Spectrum against Montreal. For more, click here.

* On March 13, he wrote a blog called "Time's Yours". The subject matter is how we can make productive use of our unexpected down time to be productive, improve ourselves as human beings, parents, spouses, sharpen our minds, brighten our moods and more: Click here.

* On March 17, Huffer compiled a list of famous quotes about reading, and a suggested reading list of 10 books -- covering a wide array of subjects, but none of which are directly sports related (although all have lessons that can be applied to sports and to life_ -- to explore during the hockey "pause": Click here.

4) Hockey Hall of Fame goaltender Bernie Parent created a video for Snider Hockey about the value and vital importance of showing kindness and compassion during tough times.
