Quick Hits: August 11, 2023
1) Flyers goaltender Cal Petersen was Jason Myrtetus' guest in Wednesday's edition of Flyers Daily on the Flyers Broadcast Network. Petersen, who was acquired from the LA Kings in the Ivan Provorov three-team trade and is looking to bounce back from a pair of down seasons, talks about why joining the Flyers gives him a mental reset and the keys to returning to form as he competes to reclaim an NHL roster spot after going through waivers and spending a portion of last season in the American Hockey League. The 28-year-old native of Waterloo, Iowa, also discusses which goalies influenced his playing style and his path from the USHL's Waterloo Black Hawks and collegiate hockey at Notre Dame to climbing his way to the National Hockey League. 2) After playing four KHL preseason games in six nights from last Thursday through Tuesday, Matvei Michkov and SKA St. Petersburg participated in a 3-on-3 mini-tournament on Thursday and won the event. Michkov scored a combined three goals in the two games and was named MVP.

3) August 11 Flyers Alumni birthday: Ken "the Rat" Linseman (1958).
4) Today in Flyers History: On August 11, 1980, the Flyers sold forward John Paddock's contract to the Quebec Nordiques. The transaction ended the first of Paddock's two playing stints in the Flyers' organization. He'd return as a free agent in 1982.
