Quick Hits: Early Holiday Break, Phantoms, 12 Days of Christmas and More (Flyers)

Quick Hits: Dec. 22, 2021

1) Tuesday night's postponement of the Flyers vs. Capitals game put the Flyers into an early Christmas break. Thursday's game in Pittsburgh was previously postponed. Next week, the Flyers are slated to begin a western road trip. The Flyers are scheduled to visit the Seattle Kraken (Dec 29), San Jose Sharks (Dec. 30), Los Angeles Kings (Jan. 1) and Anaheim Ducks (Jan. 4). The Flyers return to the Wells Fargo Center on Jan. 6 to host the Penguins.

2) After the NHL made official the postponement of Tuesday's game, the Flyers reassigned Jackson Cates and Gerry Mayhew to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Last night, the Phantoms defeated the Hershey Bears, 2-1, at the PPL Center. Pat Nagle flirted with a shutout for nearly 57 minutes before Ryan Dmowski got the Bears on the board. Nagle finished with 29 saves on 30 shots.

The Phantoms generated only 19 shots on Pheonix Copley but a latter first period goal by Charlie Gerard (1st) and a mid-second period goal by Connor Bunnaman (4th) stood up for the victory. Mayhew assisted on the Bunnaman goal.

With the win, the Phantoms extended their point streak to five straight games (4-0-1). Overall, the Phantoms are 7-11-6 on the season.
