Price Enters NHL/NHLPA Assistance Program, other news; Thur's Buzz (NHL Rumors)

Carey Price has left the team to voluntarily enter the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program. This is a great program that truly has helped MANY NHLers get through difficult times. There are many players over the years who have entered this program, quite a few of which did so in the off-season and it was never revealed. Price will miss at least 30 days, but there is no timetable set at this point.

Carey Price's amazing wife, Angela, went to Instagram today to share their story with others who might be struggling and I truly couldn't respect her and Carey more for allowing this journey to possibly help others seek help.

Angela wrote " "Part of the privilege of being in the position our family is in, is that we also get a public platform to show how there is and can be a path to light for anyone who is struggling. No matter what is on the line, we hope we can communicate the importance of putting your mental health first not just by saying it, but by showing up and doing the work to get better."

The hockey world is 100% behind this family.

Also in the news so far today..

* A reality check that we aren't in the clear yet and need to stay vigilante... Colorado Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar will miss the next two pre-season games after testing positive for COVID-19.

* Marc Bergevin does NOT have a contract extension and will enter this season without a new contract. That is pretty curious given the success the Canadiens had recently..

From earlier today...

Early morning report here..

I woke up to a text sent to me late last night from the West Coast.

"Sharks are in on Eichel. Ownership wants this/needs this to happen. Tomas Hertl part of the package. Sabres could talk extension with him prior."

Earlier last night I was talking to a source in Vegas who continues to tell me the pressure is largely on McCrimmon to get Eichel and that Vegas ownership have stated very clearly that there are no excuses when it comes to Eichel. It HAS to happen.

Combine this with Brisson's continuing work to broker a deal and there may still be hope for Buffalo to make this deal sooner than expected...

more to come...
