That was one hell of a game. Not the result the Blue Jackets were looking for but you could not have asked for a better played game. Both goalies were fantastic.

It wasn’t just the goalies who came out to play the defencemen on both sides were excellent.

The defencemen were doing a great job at stopping plays dead in their tracks. It seemed like a ton of plays were getting stopped right at the blue line. If the Jackets forwards were able to get into the zone, the Habs did a good job at keep the forwards to the outside. Columbus finished the game with 14 scoring chances and just five high danger chances, as opposed to 23 and 12 for Montreal.
The game fittingly went into overtime and OT was just as lit as regulation. The Canadiens thought they scored on this play

but the no-goal on the ice stood after a lengthy review. The Montreal fans were rightfully upset with the call. It looked pretty clear that the puck fully crossed the line. The refs though made up for that call by calling a very soft penalty after the Blue Jackets had a lengthy shift in the Montreal end. Seth Jones was called for a hold.

That is one soft call there in my opinion. The Habs scored on the ensuing power play and John Tortorella was fired up afterwards.

Regardless of how this game turned out one coach was going to be very upset no matter what. A bad call went each way.
