Game Summary
Just like the previous game the Jackets were coming into a game rested taking on a team playing in the second half of a back to back. And just like last game the team on the back half of the back to back had the better start. The Jets were the faster team early on and controlled the play, putting up a double digit shot total before the Jackets even managed three.
The Jackets rebounded in the period and ended up with a 63.64% Corsi. But just like the Tampa Bay game, the Jackets were unable to turn that possession into many scoring chances. The Jets covered the slot well and seemed content to allow low danger shots. The good chances the Jackets were getting seemed to either miss the net or Steve Mason would make a big save.
The Jackets were playing their best but they managed to hang around in the game, thanks to the stellar play of Sergei Bobrovsky and some great penalty killing. The Jets had six power plays and only managed four shots. The Jackets did well at getting in passing lanes and blocking shots. They kept the deficit at just a lone goal, setting up Cam Atkinson to tie the game mid-way through the third.

In overtime, the Jets absolutely should have won this game. Artemi Panarin lost track of Blake Wheeler in front of the net, Wheeler got the puck made a mode but could not beat Sergei Bobrovsky, who made a miraculous save.

This was one of those games that good team win. You're not at your best but you find a way to win. Having a goalie like Sergei Bobrovsky is a big reason for that as he never lets the Jackets fall too far behind. He gives the team a chance night in night out. The Jackets have a quick turnaround, as they head out on the road to take on St. Louis tonight.
