Another day another Phil Kessel overtime goal. For the second game in a row it was Phil who ended the game with his deadly wrist shot when he found himself streaking to the goal. Here it is
That is Patrik Laine attempting to catch Kessel. Phil has taken a lot of a crap from a lot of crappy people about his weight and appearance. He looked pretty fast there. Not too shabby for goal #300 of his NHL career.
Jake Guentzel made a slippery pass and Conor Sheary was able to redirect the puck on net for an early Penguins goal. These plays don’t look like much but that was a deft pass from Jake.
Tips can be random, but the pass wasn’t. Sid provided good support down low in the defensive zone and the speed of Guentzel and Sheary was too much on the play.

Vinny, I’m on it once the sample size grows enough. Last year they dominated on this front. So far this year that hasn’t been the case. It will be something to check in on at the 20 game mark for sure.
Matt Murray was a busy guy. He made a lot of impressive saves and ended up stopping 30 of the 31 shots he faced last night. There were a number of Jets chances that were unabated. Here’s a couple examples

Pittsburgh will be in Minnesota tomorrow to take on the Wild. That means a reunion with three-time Stanley Cup winner Matt Cullen.
