A big two points last night in Columbus!
After falling behind early the Wild rallied and took the game over late in the first period, and then carried that over to the second period where they fired 20 shots at Sergei Bobrovsky. They only managed to get one by the stingy Blue Jackets goaltender, that being a powerplay tally by Jason Zucker, for his 20th of the season.
Tyler Ennis did appear to give the Wild their first lead of the night at the buzzer, but after review the puck was just outside the goal line as the clock ran out. Tyler Ennis had just completed a couple of his best shifts in a Wild uniform, forechecking hard and driving to the net like he should be doing.
Charlie Coyle gave the Wild the lead when he burst out of the Wild zone at the end of a penalty kill, and was joined by Chris Stewart fresh out of the box. Coyle sped down the left wing and ripped a shot past Bobrovsky for his fifth of the season. It was the kind of speed and power that we expect more of from Coyle. He has that kind of ability.
Devan Dubnyk looked very good in the Wild net, and there was no bigger save than the one he made in overtime on a onetimer from Artemi Panarin from the slot. Dubnyk made that point blank save look routine, which shows just how well he was tracking the puck. That is the Dubnyk the Wild will need if they are going to make the playoffs.
Zach Parise finished the game with a nifty backhand over Bobrovsky, off the crossbar and in. That move had a little Koivu in it, ironically Koivu had gone earlier in the shootout and chose to abandon his signature, forehand backhand roof it move, opting to come in with speed and fire the wrister, which Bobrovsky handled with relative ease.
Next up Vegas at home Friday before heading out on the road for Dallas and St. Louis, in two big Central Division matches.
