A ‘bombogenesis’ pounding the Boston area with 10-to-15 inches of snow and hurricane-like winds has done its job and postponed Thursday’s head-to-head between the Bruins and visiting Florida Panthers.
The NHL will announce a new time for the game at a later date.
This is the first Bruins game postponed due to inclement weather since a blizzard and subsequent travel ban forced the Lightning-Bruins to put their Feb. 9, 2013 game on hold.
Sitting in second place in the Atlantic Division, the Bruins are riding a nine-game point streak (7-0-2), and get back to the rink Saturday against, fittingly, the Hurricanes.
Anders Bjork assigned to Providence
A healthy scratch in two straight games, and with the Bruins obviously preferring to find playing time for the first-year pro, forward Anders Bjork has been assigned to the American Hockey League. It’s obvious that Bjork has had to do his part to battle through some first-year struggles -- that was probably to be expected when making the jump from college to the NHL -- and this demotion doesn’t come back to his struggles as much as much as the success of almost everybody else on the roster.
With David Pastrnak back on the right side of the Brad Marchand-Patrice Bergeron combo, and Ryan Spooner playing too well to take out of the lineup right now, there’s simply no real NHL spot for Bjork.
Bjork spent Thursday’s practice with the P-Bruins on a line with Jordan Szwarz and Austin Czarnik.
Bjork has appeared in 28 games this season, tallying four goals and eight assists for 12 points with a plus-two rating. Bjork made his NHL debut on Oct. 5 against the Predators in Boston where he tallied his first NHL point. The forward later recorded his first NHL goal on Oct. 14 vs. the Coyotes in Arizona.
