PG2: Kraken vs Avalanche - Prepare for an Onslaught (seattle)

Like I wrote before, Seattle certainly has the depth to outscore the Avalanche and turn this into a legitimate series which is exactly what we saw on Tuesday night. Geekie, Tolvanen, and Wennberg all scored for the Kraken while Rantanen was the lone goal scorer for the Avs.

The Avalanche's top line of MacKinnon, Rantanen, and Rodrigue still controlled the overall shot generation at 5 on 5 but that was it for the Avs generating anything. The Compher and Nichuskin line got absolutely caved in by Seattle.

This is an important trend that needs to continue if Seattle wants to come out ahead in this series; doing their best to stem the MacKinnon line while utilizing their own depth to cash in against Colorado's other lines that certainly are looking beatable.

Tonight will be an even tougher game. The Avalanche are the prior Stanley Cup winners for a reason and while they may be missing some key pieces, you can bet MacKinnon is going to do everything in his power to take the team on his shoulders and push them to win.

If Grubauer can be as sharp as he was on Tuesday and help Seattle weather the storm early and if Seattle can once again cash in an early goal, this team could end up having a 2-0 series lead heading back to Seattle where the fans will be roaring.

Enjoy the game!
