After a long summer, the Arizona Coyotes take to the ice tonight in Dallas for their first game of the season.
The Coyotes added Galchenyuk, Grabner, Hinostroza and Oesterle to their roster, and they have promoted Barrett Hayton and Dylan Strome.
The summer was also notable because they locked in Christian Dvorak and, more importantly, Oliver Ekman-Larsson to massive contract extensions.
Our friend Max Domi had a nice night in Toronto last night, picking up two helpers and almost pulling out a great upset. Domi looked like the player we thought we were going to use as a core piece in Arizona for a decade, so hopefully he keeps it up.
I like the trade for Galchenyuk (a lot) but I would say my view of the trade is based heavily on my feelings about Max Domi the person and him being a bit of a.......to put it politely, let's say "bro."
He definitely thinks Joe Rogan is cool, just like, for example.
But as a player, he has potential to be great and I hope he crushes it in Montreal.
What else? Hjalmarsson and Stepan were named alternate captains, if you care, which I don't. The whole letter thing is boring, to me at least, but I figured I'd pass it on.
I guess we should talk about Tom Wilson. Pretty sweet they gave him 20 games, although arguably that's not enough. The guy is a menace.
While Barrett Hayton made the team, it does not appear that he will be dressing tonight. I don't think he should be here if he's not going to play, but perhaps they just want him to watch one, and hang out for a bit before he plays. Clearly they're not going to have him in the pressbox every night.
Kinda sucks cause I wanted to see him play, but oh well. The Coyotes will ice a first line that includes Christian Fischer tonight, so let's not get those playoff tickets printed just yet.
ON the bright side, I can't wait to see the line of Crouse- Strome - Dauphin.
