The Avalanche on Tuesday announced they have signed goalie Jonas Johansson to a one-year contract for the 2021-22 season.
It’s a two-way contract worth $750,000 in the NHL and $300,000 in the AHL.
Johansson, 25, could have become an unrestricted free agent July 28. He and Pavel Francouz, who missed all of last season with a lower-body injury that required hip surgery, are signed through next season.
Philipp Grubauer and Devan Dubnyk remain unsigned and will be eligible for unrestricted free agency July 28.
Johansson went 5-1-1 with one shutout, a 2.06 goals-against average and .913 save percentage following his March 20 acquisition from the Buffalo Sabres for a sixth-round pick in the 2021 NHL draft.
He struggled big time with the Sabres, going 0-5-1 with a 3.79 GAA and .884 save percentage before the trade.
Johansson helped the Avalanche clinch the Presidents’ Trophy when he made 21 saves in a 5-1 win against the Los Angeles Kings in the regular-season finale.
His career NHL record is 6-9-3 with a 2.89 GAA and .896 save percentage in 21 games.
