According to TSN's Pierre Lebrun, the latest rumor has the Canadian teams in one division which was always an option, while the Wild regionally slotted into a division with Central Division rivals Chicago and Nashville. They will be joined by Stanley Cup champion, Lightning along with Eastern Conference foes, Florida, Carolina, Columbus, and Detroit.
The Wild have a long history with the Wings and the natural connection with their NHL expansion class of 2000 partner Columbus. Tampa, Florida, and Carolina will all present the Wild significant challenges if they are indeed going to be a playoff team.
