This was my first year as a Professional Hockey Writers Association voter for the NHL Awards.
Truthfully, I can do better as a voter, and I will -- I haven't developed my philosophy enough yet.
For example, I could've done better with my Lady Byng vote -- some research into the trophy's history revealed space for improvement.
The PHWA will be revealing each member's vote on their website in the next couple days.

Karlsson, on his Lady Byng: "I want to thank the team, the other Golden Misfits."
— Sheng Peng (@Sheng_Peng) June 21, 2018
Karlsson might have been joking, but he just said that he and Marchessault are getting Reilly Smith a moped a la Jon Merrill. So move over Golden Misfits, hello Golden Mopeds

Gallant, on grandson's name: "Dylan. I'll never forget that name again."

In Detroit, Gallant played for the only back-to-back Jack Adams winner ever, Jacques Demers.
