Todd Cordell
Cody Ceci.
He ranks 12th in the NHL in 5v5 time on ice. 12th! I know Ottawa isn't exactly loaded with quality blue liners but giving Ceci that much ice seems sub optimal given the results he garners.
At 5v5, the Sens control 44.4% of the shot attempts, 40% of the scoring chances, and 41.38% of the goals. As bad as the Sens have been, they're far worse with Ceci on the ice.
Among the top-60 defensemen in 5v5 ice this year, nobody has worse numbers than Ceci. Unless the Sens are tanking, he shouldn't be getting the kind of minutes he plays. Given the team seems adamant on locking him up long-term, I'm guessing that's not the case.

The most overused defenseman is the Washington Capitals Brooks Orpik.
Orpiks is third on the Capitals in total ice time, he's got a 43% possession rating and a negative scoring chance differential of over 130. He is one of the worst players in the NHL and his deployment makes Barrie Trotz one of the worst coaches. It's absolutely insane how much the Capitals use him considering how ineffective he is.
His terrible play cannot be written off by zone starts or deployment, either. He is that bad. And, as the final kicker, his insane salary prevented the Capitals from improving their team at the deadline.

Hi Kris Russell, how are you? Life's good for you in Edmonton isn't it? I bet it is, great contract, lots of playing time and support from management. You're a beauty aren't you?
Sorry, no one's buying it. They don't fault you for making the money you do but man are you a pariah for the fans and it's really not your fault is it? Nope but you aren't what the Oilers think you are but again, that's not your fault. Have a great off season in a month!
