We have a huge card for Monday night with 10 games and it starts at 4PM today with Nashville/TB! Speaking of the Lightning, they are in a tough spot this week playing 5 games in 7 nights as do the Pittsburgh Penguins. To have two teams in this spot, it will be interesting to see how it plays out as you know there are going to be some tired legs with their opponents not playing the same amount of games this week.
Tonight also marks three more teams returning from long road trips, both NYR and Vegas off 6 gamers and the Jets off a 5 game roadie. Lets see how these teams respond tonight! We also have two teams sitting rested while their opponent plays the night before and this angle is 6-0 in just one week since we started tracking it.
**I have started to research teams that come off at least a 5 game road trip and how they fare in their first game back home.** Buffalo and St. Louis lost on back to back nights, returning from long road trips. Its 2-2 to date after Ottawa won last night. Winnipeg, Vegas and NYR are off road trips tonight!
I am starting a new angle that you will see in Scenario #1. It’s a very small size, but it’s 7-0 this week. I will track it and see how its plays out here for all those that read the column. Three more spots for this angle this week! The Ottawa win last night keeps this angle looking great!
Scenario #1 – Teams that are rested, either sitting at home or on the road while their opponent plays the night before. 7-0 in the first week of tracking it! Vancouver and St. Louis fit the system tonight.
Scenario #2 – Teams that are playing each other in back to back games, in which the home team loses the first game, the record of the home team in the second game is 49-32.
Scenario #3 – Teams playing back to back road games on consecutive nights tend to go under the total in the 2nd game. So far that trend is 19-19-1 when teams play on the road back to back nights.
Scenario #4 - One last angle I am tracking that is slightly profitable and similar to Scenario #1, is when any team loses the first game of a back to back against the same team, regardless if it’s on the road or at home, those teams are 70-57 in that situation. Nashville and Chicago fit the system tonight.
