Last night was another bizarre night on the ice, with three road teams shutting out the home team! The Flames won at Boston in one of the worst spots you can be in, playing their 7th game in 11 nights on the road, winning 4 of their last 5 on the road while earning three shutouts! The NY Islanders continue to struggle and now they are doing it at home, back-to-back nights in their new building. The Isles sit last place in their division and one has to wonder if they will recover from this slow start. The Coyotes won two games in a row and 3 of their last 4 all in a week! We have a 6 game card for Monday night, see the game notes below as I hope to get back on the winning side after 2 straight losing nights.
**Korpisalo/Tokarski Goalies** Columbus is playing their 3rd in 4 nights on the road but the first 2 games were on the west coast, so time change is a factor too. Buffalo has been solid at home but the Jackets were off Sunday traveling while the Sabres played the Rangers. Small lean to Buffalo -105.
**Lehner/Binnington Goalies** Vegas is off a 6 game homestand in which they won 5 of 6, meanwhile, the Blues have lost 5 of their last 6. Small lean to the Blues here as I see STL raising their level of play against rival Vegas on home ice. Blues -149 tells you the oddsmakers seem to think the Blues will bring it too!
**Gibson/Saros** The Ducks 8 game winning streak came to end a few nights ago to Carolina. Preds get 3 homes this week and at -155, it's a nice price as the Ducks have done their damage at home.
**Jarry/Hellebuyck Goalies** Pittsburgh is finally healthy and has shut out their opponent the last 2 games on the road. The Jets have lost two in a row on the road, back home for one game then back out on the road for three more. Lean to Pittsburgh here at even money.
**Gustavsson/Kuemper Goalies**(I still think the Avs go with the back up goalie) Avs have won 4 in a row and had the weekend off. The Sens have been off 9 days after the covid issues and now get to play their game back at altitude. In reading what the players are saying, it sounds like the 2 practices they had after the shutdown has many players' lungs burning. Keep in mind, on top of the 9 days off these players had to quarantine for 10 days, so almost 3 weeks off and not in game shape. Ottawa is terrible on the road, now they get 4 games in 6 nights on the road. The juice is too high, so PL is the way to go. Avs -1.5(-127) will be a strong play!
**Raanta/Reimer Goalies** The Canes are playing their 4th in 7 nights on the road with 2 more road games this week. Carolina is going to have very careful of the minutes each player gets with fatigue starting to set in. The Sharks lost last game out after the five-game road trip. I look for a big bounce-back for SJ and lean +130, a nice dog spot. Reimer is confirmed in goal for SJ. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following numbers from last night were requested by all the Draft Kings reader's here, so I hope all of you that read the column daily can use them to your advantage - Total goals last night - 36 (Home - 16/Road - 20) Total PP goals last night - 4 Total SH goals last night - 2 Favs were 3-4 last night. **Another prop to try is empty-net goals, you would be surprised how many are scored each night as coaches tend to pull the goalie earlier than if down 1 or 2 goals.
Home teams are now 156-121. Over/Under the total is 129-139-7 on the year. Teams in back-to-back consecutive road games are now 26-20-1 over/under the total. Teams rested the night before when their opponent plays the prior night are 30-18. East vs West games, East 56-54 over the Western Conference.
