A perfect night was blown by the Flyers' inability to score while struggling early in the season in back-to-backs, something to keep an eye on with teams as we move forward this season. Four of five games went under the total with three dogs hitting, CLB the nicest of the bunch at +230. Home teams had a slight edge going 3-2.
Overall, home teams are 57-40 to start the season with games going under the total at a slight edge of 47-42-2. Tonight, we have a six-game card but beware when playing teams on Monday nights. Over the years, I've seen some pretty bizarre stuff with some teams at home just not being the least bit focused, especially if they're off a big win or are looking ahead to a superior opponent. That being said, I like a lot of home teams tonight lol.
DAL/OTT - The Stars are playing their 3rd game in 5 nights on the road plus they've got Boston on deck tomorrow night. Ottawa has won all 3 games on this homestand, scoring 18 goals.
WSH/NJ - The Caps aren't nearly as good on the road while the Devils play a much better forecheck game at home, for whatever reason. NJ has won 3 in a row and in all 3 of those wins they have gone under the total.
PIT/EDM - The Oilers have struggled to start the season while the Pens have scored 6 goals in each of their 4 wins to start the year. This will be Edmonton's 6th straight at home to start the year before heading out on the road.
STL/WPG - The Blues are 3-0 to start the season while the Jets have struggled out of the gate. Both teams are tough to figure out at times, STL has EDM on deck.
TOR/VGK - Both teams are 4-2 to begin the year and the Leafs' have gone under the total in 5 of their 6 games.
CAR/VAN - The Canucks have yet to win a game this season but catch the Canes playing their 5th game in 8 nights on the road. This is as close to a must win as you can have this early in the season so I expect the Canucks to jump on CAR early and often.
