The Czech Republic will have a new man leading their bench - the scandalous Milos Riha has been appointed as the new head coach Czech hockey federation has announced.

Riha will be replacing Josef Jandac at the helm of Czech hockey. Jandac worked as the head coach since 2016. Jandac has moved on to coach the Metallurg Magnitogorsk team in the KHL.

Jandac led the Czech team in three World hockey championships, not making it past quarter-finals in his tenure with them. At the 2018 World Championships, Czech Republic lost 2:3 against the USA and earned a 7th place for the second time in two years.

Meanwhile, the freshly appointed coach hasn't been on the bench since October of 2017 when he was released from his KHL team - Slovan Bratislava where he spent two seasons. In his first year with the team, he led them to the Gagarin Cup playoffs.

Prior to working with Slovan, he spent time with multiple KHL teams. He was the bench boss of Moscow Spartak, Atlant Michi, SKA St.Petersburgh and Avangard Omsk.
