At this point in the season you are either in good shape in a playoff picture or just outside and need to have a few good weeks and you will be on the inside, looking out. If you are already out of the picture, it’s time to roll the dice and trade away some of your quality talent and see if you can get two high end players for one. Look for the best return you can possibly get by shopping your big name player and try to help your team out; desperate times call for desperate measures.
This season seems to have more free agent magic than most thanks to Covid and all the games lost. It has been a real pain in the ankle in just about every format. In one of my fantasy pools we actually added a couple IR+ slots to everyone’s roster, as well as additional “moves… or “adds… each week. In another pool we reduced the number of goalie games required each week from four to three. Whatever the convenor of your pool decides, roll with it and make the best of it.
Let’s get to the juicy stuff. Who to add to your team that might be available and have a better second half of the season.
Goaltenders: Goalies have been a total gong show this season because of Covid and the quarantine that follows. I’ve been using most of my weekly moves just ensuring I get as many goalie starts as I can. Seems like most nights you can find yourself a backup that is getting a start. I’ve been looking at the best matchups and taking a chance on a backup getting me the stats I’m looking for. Here are a few goalies I’m liking going forward the rest of the season who may be available for you to scoop up for a spot start or more.
Kaapo Kahkonen Pavel Francouz Ville Husso Cal Petersen Adin Hill
Forwards: Lawson Crouse Evander Kane Ilya Mikheyev Nicolas Aube-Kubel Anton Lundell Jared McCann Yanni Gourde
Defensemen: Matt Grzelcyk Noah Dobson Gustav Forsling Oliver Kylington John Marino
Good luck in your matchups and thanks for reading.
