Melnyk Breaks His Silence (senators)

Eugene Melnyk has broken his silence. It’s not because of anything related to the Ottawa Senators’ on-ice performance, or the recent turmoil in the CEO’s office; rather, it is the fast-moving nature of the COVID-19 virus and its impact on sport that demanded the owner’s words.

Just moments before ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the NBA has suspended its season, Melnyk released a statement reassuring Senators fans of the precautions his organization is taking. He highlighted that additional sanitation measures will be in place at the Canadian Tire Centre and Sensplexes, and reiterated public health recommendations around hand washing, among other things. Enjoy tonight’s game, because there’s no promise of Friday’s against the Chicago Blackhawks being a ‘go’.

As always, thanks for reading.
