Mad Men (isles)

The Islanders are in Beantown tonight to take on the Boston Bruins at 7PM. The lineup will stay the same tonight (of course it will) and Thomas Greiss will be between the pipes. The fuzzy warm feeling of a brief winning streak has been replaced by the reality then no matter how the organization spins it, this is a bad hockey team.

I like to use my eyes to get a read on a team and balance that with advance metrics to come to a conclusion. If you watch this team and look at the stats they tell you the same story. This team is bad. Meanwhile, the organization keeps trying to spin this.

We hear from head coach Jack Capuano and it’s a new excuse daily. They played hard. They fought. They are losing better. The goalie needs to make a save. It’s all cow dung. At least on a few rare occasions Cappy has blamed himself, unlike his boss.

Islander General Manager Garth Snow should be working in politics. Publically, everything is awesome. The team is fighting and he believes in them. Well, I believe that you can fight all you want but if the roster is crap, the roster is crap. Look at the second line of this team Garth and tell me everything is great.

We can do this all day, but until these owners prove they are serious, YOU cannot take this team serious. There is nothing worse than apathy and that is where we are now. Do not go to games, do not give them your money. What I’m learning is that it is perfectly okay to throw away a season, so we as fans should throw them out.
