The Avalanche will try to stretch their point streak to 14 consecutive games when they meet the St. Louis Blues on Saturday to complete the two-game set and six-game homestand.
The 11-0-2 streak is the longest in the NHL this season and the third longest in franchise history. They had a 16-game streak (12-0-4) in 2000-01 and a 14-game streak (11-0-3) in 2002-03.
Here are the GAME NOTES.
Goalie as Jonas Johansson made 25 saves Friday in the Avalanche’s 3-2 win before a ticketed crowd of 4,039.
Here’s my NHL.com RECAP.
Philipp Grubauer, who has played 30 of the Avalanche’s first 36 games (29 starts), will be in goal. He has an 11-game streak without a regulation loss (10-0-1) since a 3-2 loss to the Arizona Coyotes on March 8.
Grubauer has set career highs for wins (22) and shutouts (five), and owns a 1.78 goals-against average and .928 save percentage.
Neither team had a morning skate.
Avalanche forward Valeri Nichushkin will play after being a late scratch Friday because of an upper-body injury.
The Avalanche announced Saturday they have signed forward Sampo Ranta to a three-year, entry-level contract. He will report to the American Hockey League’s Colorado Eagles.
Ranta, 20, completed his junior season at the University of Minnesota, finishing with a career-best 31 points in 31 games while also establishing career highs in goals (19) and assists (12). His 19 goals ranked second in the nation while he led the Gophers in goals, points and finished second in power-play goals (3).
Ranta, who is from Naantali, Finland, was named to the All-Big Ten First Team and was a Big Ten All-Tournament Team Selection and finished with 67 points (37 goals, 30 assists) in 102 career games with Minnesota.
He was a third-round pick (No. 78) in the 2018 NHL draft.
