For the latest Leafs updates or Follow @mikeinbuffalo on Twitter The Toronto Maple Leafs coaching staff and management got their first look at some of their young prospects at the NHL Rookie Showcase in Laval, Quebec this weekend. The Leafs split the two contests (a 6-5 overtime loss to the Ottawa Senators on Saturday and a 4-2 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday afternoon), but the game results were much less important than how individuals performed in game action against youngsters from the division rival Sens and Habs. In goal, Ian Scott was shaky in Saturday’s loss, allowing six goals including the tying tally to Drake Batherson with 18 seconds left in regulation and the game-winner to the Sens rookie early in overtime. 2018 draft pick Zach Bouthillier was sharp for Toronto in Sunday’s victory, making a impressive stop on a two-man breakaway.
