Leafs on the bubble face Habs; Interview with Bill Watters (maple leafs)

For the latest Leafs updates or on Twitter

After playing a lineup against Montreal that may closely resemble what makes suits up to start the regular season in Winnipeg one week from today, the Toronto Maple Leafs will go with a roster that consists of those fighting for the few open spots left.

The Canadiens are expected to dress goaltender Carey Price, center Jonathan Drouin and most of the players in the lineup for the 5-1 loss on Monday at the Videotron Centre in Quebec City.

Leafs backup Curtis McElhinney will go in goal and is expected to play the entire game. The contestents in the battle for fourth line center will all be in the lineup, according to TSN’s Kristen Shilton .

Miro Aaltonen will skate between Josh Leivo and Connor Brown, veteran Dominic Moore will center Kerby Rychel and Kasperi Kapanen, Ben Smith will play with Colin Greening and Carl Grundstrom and Eric Fehr centers Andreas Johnsson and Nikita Soshnikov.

On defense, Calle Rosen is paired with Travis Dermott (who will play on the right side), hard-hitting Andreas Borgman skates with Connor Carrick and Martin Marincin will play with Marlies blueliner Justin Holl.

Very happy to announce that myself and CTV’s Norman James will be back talking Leafs once again. “The Leafs Convo… will make it’s season debut on Tuesday, October 3rd and will appear every two weeks on this column.

We will have other panel discussions and interviews on a regular basis as well, including a monthly appearance from former Leafs Assistant GM and player agent Bill Watters.

Here is the first interview with Bill and myself, discussing the summer moves made by Toronto, the battles for roster spots and the future of Lou Lamoriello:
