This is a good signing. It provides the Penguins with the best center depth in the league and covers for injury as much as you can. If one of the big two gets hurt Brassard can move up. Sheahan can do the third line thing in spot duty. Sheahan is most appropriately allocated in the fourth line and that is where he will be.

As for the Jack Johnson stuff you can believe the people that carry water for the Penguins or the information that is readily available.
"he just needs to go back to how he played in la"

"torts ruined him"
"he brings needed offense to the blueline"
"he will stabilize this group"

It has to make you wonder that no matter what you look at nothing is positive other than blind hope that the Penguins magically transform defensemen.

“Well, maybe it will work out, you just never know…
The arguments that he needs a new environment is a real “no duh… proclamation. He needs the most advantageous deployment to squeeze the smallest ounce of benefit out. Then as yourself why should the Penguins pay a premium for this player when they can give this favorable deployment to somebody making league minimum? That is literally what league replacement value means. That is what Jack Johnson is.
Three and a half days left of being free of Jack Johnson
