As the flu ravages the Coyotes roster, the team will be forced to turn to backup goalie Darcey Kuemper for the second strait game tonight against the Canucks.
Kuemper was solid in a 4-1 win against the Blue Jackets the other night.
Obviously Anti Raanta is going to be the biggest reason the Coyotes make the playoffs this year, if they do, but Kuemper is a solid back-up. Last season Raanta missed about 30 games and not having a decent backup goalie pretty much ruined the season.
The Coyotes are 3-5 and winning tonight would be their first consecutive wins of the young season.
Here are some quick notes:
- Mario Kempe cleared waivers (woo!)
- Janet Jackson: the best Jackson
- Richard Panik healthy scratch (dumb)
- Chychrun still not back. Craig Morgan said two weeks probably.
- Coyotes no longer in the basement. The Kings are!
- Vancouver leads the division and has two games in hand. Just to show what early season standings are worth.
- Dylan Strome - who scored the other day - is back on the fourth line with Cousins and Archibald.
That's it.
