While Kyle Dubas is focused at the immediate future of the club’s play-in matchup against the Columbus Blue Jackets in the play-in round, the Leafs GM also has to be concerned with the future of the club and the uncertainty of the world of hockey in the COVID-19 era. Rumors over the weekend indicated that Leafs prospect Egor Korshkov would be returning to Russia to play for Yaroslavl Lokomotiv in the KHL next season after one season in North America. The big winger scored 25 points (16 goals, 9 assists) for the AHL Toronto Marlies last season and a goal in his NHL debut against the Buffalo Sabres. Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported in his “31 Thoughts… column that Korshkov will be loaned to the KHL club so there will be an opportunity for him to play next season.
