The Islanders announced today that they have agreed to terms with forward Otto Koivula on a three-year, entry-level contract.
Koivula was selected in the fourth round (120th overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft. The 6'4, 220-pound forward posted 27 points (nine goals, 18 assists) in 53 games this season with Ilves of Finland's Liiga. The 19-year-old was named the league's rookie of the year last season.
The Finn certainly has the body of a power forward but needs to get even stronger if he wants to compete at the NHL level.
