The Los Angeles Kings picked up another road win last night, defeating the Arizona Coyotes 3-2.

In the second period, it was Arizona who opened the scoring, as Clayton Keller buried a great pass from Nick Schmaltz. The Kings responded just 18 seconds later though, as Blake Lizotte tipped in Mikey Anderson’s point shot to quickly tie the game. Then under a minute after that, Viktor Arvidsson put Los Angeles ahead, tapping in a nice pass from Trevor Moore after an Arizona turnover. The Coyotes did manage to draw even before the end of the second frame though, with Barrett Hayton’s shot deflecting in off Tobias Bjornfot’s stick to make it 2-2 heading into the intermission.

Chances didn’t come as frequently in the third period, as the Kings outshot the Coyotes by a margin of just 8-5. However, with just three minutes to play, Viktor Arvidsson scored his second goal of the game off Shayne Gostisbehere’s stick, putting the Kings back up by a goal. Los Angeles managed to hang on after that, taking the 3-2 win.

Kickstarted by an excellent first period, this was a great game for the Kings. They outshot Arizona 35-19 and really limited scoring chances against through most of the night and consistently pressured to create offensive zone turnovers.

The Kings’ second line continues to be great, with Arvidsson picking up two goals and both Trevor Moore and Phillip Danault registering assists. Los Angeles is getting scoring through just about all parts of their forward group and they’ve just been a fun team to watch over the last couple of months.

With the win, the Kings have gone 3-0-0 so far on their stretch of road games, with one game to go. They’ll wrap up the trip tomorrow, when they face the Anaheim Ducks.
