The Avalanche recalled Martin Kaut from the Colorado Eagles on Monday, so going to assume another forward is injured and the rookie will play in Los Angeles in the finale of the three-game road trip.
Kaut was reassigned to the AHL team last week after collecting two goals and an assist in eight games. His entry-level contract will kick in if he plays two more games.
No morning skate, so no word if Pavel Francouz or Michael Hutchinson will start in goal.
The Avalanche remain two points behind St. Louis in the race for first in the Central Division and Western Conference. The Blues are home against Florida.
Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog each had a goal and two assists Sunday in the Avalanche’s 4-3 win in San Jose. Here’s the NHL.com RECAP. Francouz had 22 saves to earn his 20th win.
Landeskog, who has 13 points (five goals, eight assists) in an eight-game point streak, was named the NHL second star of the week.
