The new KHL season is barely two days old but things are already headed to court. The only KHL's team from Finland is set to sue Finnish magazine ''Helsingin Sanomat'' for putting a bad edit of teams logo on the magazines front cover.
The most popular Finnish magazine's September edition has Jokerit's clown logo with a replaced face of the joker. The most absurd thing about this is the fact that the jokers face has been replaced by Vladimir Putin's one. Which obviously has set off some anger between the leadership of the Helsinki team.
''It's illegal to use of our brand for the pathetic purpose of earning more money. That isn't journalism anymore. Jokerit is the market leader of Finland in hockey and no outlet has ever reached out to ask for permission to use our logo for the purpose of political use. Action will be taken'' the chairman of Jokerit - Juka Kohonen said.
Meanwhile, the editor in chief of ''Helsingin Sanomat'' Ansite Miettinen has made his own statement pointing that the cover photos similarity to the Jokerit logo is just a coincidence: ''If you carefully compare our picture to the actual logo of Jokerit team then you can see quite a few differences. You just can't not notice them. The picture was created by an artist who didn't need any sort of permission and we always pay attention to the front covers of our monthly issue.''
