Jets Do Nothing All Week and No One Cares (Jets)

Sorry to keep you all waiting but, life has been busy for me and not so much for the Jets. Six days into their eight-game break, only Scheifele and Hellebuyck have had to perform (that we know of). Which they did in entertaining fashion during this year’s All-Star Game in St Louis.

With nothing on the line, the story at these events often becomes, the people the players are. This year would be no exception, and I got a little fun out of watching the uber-chill Hellebuyck calmly answer questions, while Mark Scheifele very intensely sat and did nothing, but be intense. Some dynamic there.

Baby Jet Jansen Harkins must have been inspired by His Scheifeness, when he scored his own all-star goal in the AHL All-Star Challenge. Yep, it’s a challenge, not a game. A 3-on-3 round-robin tournament, followed by a six-minute semi-final, and final game. Harkins scored one goal and one assist in one of the four games he played in.

That being said, we are still seeing prospects like Vesalainen and Gawanke finding their groove. Vesalainen is now up to 24 points in 46 games, after a slow start following a car crash related injury to start the season. And Gawanke; who the heck is this guy? Well, he’s a 20-year old, 6’1…, 200 lbs. right-side defenseman who has put up 18 points in 34 games for the Moose. Uhh, that’s pretty good for a fifth rounder, 136th overall. Cool.

Certainly, he’s looking better right now than the Jets 2016 first rounder Logan Stanley. The 21-year old, 6’7’’, 242 lbs. defender has just 7 points in 30 games, and a -16 rating. They said we were going to have to be patient with him…

The Jets also decided to be all cool and celebrate their 10th year of existence with a pretty groovy logo.

The Wait

If you are,

sadly, as old as me, just remember,

so is

Phil Kessel.
