"Hey Peter, it's Garth!"
The Islanders have acquired defenseman Brandon Davidson for a 2019 3rd round pick. The 26-year-old had three goals and an assist in 23 games with the Oilers this season.
Davidson was claimed by the Oilers off waivers from Montreal in December after acquiring him from Edmonton at last year's deadline.
The left-handed Davidson brings much needed depth to a struggling Isles defense. It'll give head coach Doug Weight another option than just Dennis Seidenberg.
While Davidson isn't the greatest skater, he does limit his mistakes and turnovers, something the team has been dealing with all season.
The risk is pretty low in this deal. It's basically the Shane Prince deal all over again.
Davidson is a restricted free agent following the season and will likely be a low-cost replacement for Thomas Hickey next season.
